Nigel Hunter Sculptor & Ceramicist.
Nigel Hunter is a sculptor and ceramicist who lives and works near Lewes in East Sussex.
At the centre of his sculptural work in clay, wood and stone is a continuing fascination with nature, biomorphism and geometry and how haptic aspects of natural forms might transition into more abstract expression. Inspired by a minimal aesthetic and Japanese philosophy his focus is to capture a sculptural essence with simplicity. Carving stone by hand and throwing pots on a wheel are physical, immersive and meditative but the aim is that the resulting works house their own natural energy and fluency.
